Malgedara is a spectacular house, fully enclosed for privacy, yet with 1 acre of lush tropical surroundings for you to experience nature and beauty up close. One side of the garden overlooks a tranquil paddy field with grazing bullocks and swaying coconut palms. Monitor lizards can be seen wandering along the perimeter and monkeys regularly swing by on their morning route through the area.

The house is a renovated 130-yr old colonial masterpiece. The original teak wood doors and window frames are reminders of its heritage while the air-conditioning and comfortable 4-poster teak beds with the smoothest Indian linen help you enjoy the atmosphere with modern comforts.

All your entertainment needs are taken care of in the small sitting room with TV, DVD and stereo system. There are 2 veranda seating areas, one being a huge 15-metre long area at the front of the house complete with dining for 10 and lazy chairs and sun loungers. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs but the best option with this rental is the catering offered at minimal cost. A select menu is available at the villa for your enjoyment if required. Alternatively, you can eat out or go self-catering. You choose how to operate the villa. Laundry services and daily cleaning are also offered so that you can relax as much as possible.

From April until June 2007, the villa is being offered at an incredibly low price of 300 pounds per week. During this period the swimming pool is being constructed and so there would be some disturbance during the day.

You can have the best of all worlds at this location. The villa is approximately 1KM from Koggala Beach, 3KM from Talpe beach and 6KM from the famous Unawatuna beach. Beautiful Koggala Lake is only a 1-min stroll from the front gate. You can go for boat rides in a local catamaran and visit Bird Island.

The famous 300-yr old UNESCO listed Galle Fort is approx 6 KM drive. Wander around the Dutch colonial restored houses and stroll along the rampart wall, before dropping by The Rampart Hotel for a lovely Sri Lankan lunch.

Time stops in Sri Lanka or it certainly ticks more slowly. Stop anytime along the road for food and drinks at any of the small restaurants and cafes. You can find places to eat very close to the house, along the beach or as mentioned earlier, in Galle Fort.
