Our cottages are on the spectacular Beara Peninsula. The cottages all have stunning views over Kenmare Bay and Mountains and also lovely views at the back of even more Mountains. The Beara Peninsula has beautiful, unspoiled rugged beauty with breathtaking views all around. Life is slow and easy here, and all our holiday makers say a week isn't long enough!! The cottage is so cosy - the kitchen/diner is fully equipped with washer, fridge, microwave, oven and hob, etc. and looks out to the Mountains. The Lounge with its traditional open fire is warm and snug with views over Kenmare Bay, we have a large selection of videos to watch, books to read and games to play. The twin bedroom has two single beds and views to the Mountains. The double bedroom has a double bed with those fantastic views of Kenmare Bay. All the beds have electric blankets (for those of you who prefer to come out of season)

Touring the Surrounding Area |
| |
Kerford Cottages are ideally placed for touring the whole of Co.Kerry and Cork.
The Healey Pass just 15 minutes drive from the Cottages has some of the most spectacular views in the whole of Ireland - it looks just like a film set!! Drive to Allihies and make several stops on the way and see if you can spot the Dolphins - they all like to swim in with the tide to feed - amazing sight. Go to Castletownbere and buy freshly caught fish from the fishermen, or stop at one of the many quirkey pubs for lunch - you won't regret it!! Drive to Kenmare and on then to the Ring of Kerry - world renowned for its beauty spots (I prefer the Ring of Beara/Beara Peninsula as it is not so busy in High Season, and I am biased anyway with living here)!!! Kenmare is the beautifulest Town with loads of shops, pubs and restaurants....Blarney Castle....kiss the Blarney Stone....Cork...City of Culture 2005.....there is so much to see in this part of Ireland. |
Activities and Eating Out |

Half a mile from the Cottages is the Star Sailing and Adventure Centre/Restaurant. This is a marvellous place for kayaking, canoeing, instruction in water sports, boat trips etc. The Centre also caters for hillwalking. The Restaurant serves freshly caught fish and Irish beef steaks to die for!! Swimming from the pebble beach is very safe, with clear waters, the only thing to watch out for are the seals!! There is a daily boat trip from Kenmare Harbour which takes you all around the Bay to spot the Seals and wildlife. Bikes can be hired from Kenmare on a daily/weekly basis. Horse riding is half a mile from the cottage. The Landsdowne Arms in Kenmare offers bar meals, restaurant and a la carte meals - highly recommended - they also have fantastic Music Nights two or three times a week with traditional Irish Music!! But remember, this doesn't start until 9pm so have a good lie in that morning. All the other Pubs and Restaurants in Kenmare are highly recommended - prices can vary though, The Club Restaurant is very good with an early diner menu (four courses) for 20euros. |
