Quinta La Merced was designed by a Spanish architect, following the "Cortijo" style and was built using traditional techniques and materials. Located in the friendly little village of La Merced on the outskirts of Quito. Many of the homes are weekend getaways. La Merced is known for its volcanic thermal baths, a 5 minute walk. Tiny town square with quaint church, small shops and internet services. Nearby is Sangolqui, (15 mins.) known for its market on Saturdays -- lots of fun! Great shopping, restaurants and movies are in San Rafael (10 min.) and Cumbaya (20 min.). The property includes the main house and a caretaker's cottage. Its gardens are full of blooming plants year round. The barbeque area includes Argentine-style grill, bread oven & prep sink. Glass double doors in the courtyard lead up tile-accented stairs to the upstairs. This level includes an ENORMOUS master suite with sitting area and balcony. The master bath has a large dressing area, his and hers vanities, separate shower and a soaking tub overlooking the grounds. Another bedroom with en suite full bath and yet another bedroom. Also upstairs is a very large library with fireplace, which we use as bedroom. All rooms have a fireplace. |
