Moulin de Coutille

Nestling in a tranquil river valley, this very special property was originally a water mill and has been sympathetically restored in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings.

In the main house, steps lead up from the well-equipped kitchen and attractive dining area to a comfortable salon. French doors open from the salon to a raised terrace with dining furniture and views or the river and woodland beyond; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

The heated swimming pool is surrounded by extensive lawned areas dotted with graceful willow trees. Six hectares of secluded grounds are bordered by the gently flowing river ?Le Lavaud', completing the setting for this idyllic holiday hideaway.

The locality and surroundings.

Jumilhac le Grand (10 km away from the property) is a village of some 1200 inhabitants in the northern part of the Dordogne. It is part of the Perigord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, a protected area with a rich heritage. The landscape is one of hills and valleys and is perfectly suited to walks, bike-rides, and horseback riding. Its distinguishing features are green pastures with Limousin cows alternated by woods, orchards, rivers and lakes. In the rivers and lakes one can fish for trout as well as pike, perch and other coarse species.
Market days: Wednesday and Sunday

The impressive 13th Century castle of Jumilhac is part of the Richard the Lionheart Route together with other neighbouring castles (Nexon, Coussac-Bonneval and Chalus). This historic route, which is well-signposted, is best done by car.
