The Americana Bed & Breakfast In Deuchland

We are Americans living in Germany in a beautiful town called St Leon-Rot. It's just outside of Heidelberg & Mannheim and about 65-75K South of Frankfurt which equates to about a 25 minute train ride into the heart of Frankfurt's city center!

We are regular, down to earth people and wish for you to be the same.

We have 3 children, a dog and I smoke, so if you are allergic to any or all of the above, please look elsewhere. You are welcome to smoke as well.

We are renting 2 of our extra bedrooms from our very large home. We will be present while you stay here with us. This listing is for the single bedroom called the "Americana Room" and is decorated in an old American theme. The room is spacious & quite beautiful. The full bathroom that is for our house guests only is just 3 steps from your doorway.

The house is a typical very large german home with 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 garages, 2 basements, a family room, dining room, foyer, balcony, patio, backyard and small party room / cabin in the back yard. Tiled floors throughout and carpeted bedrooms. Large sunny windows allow the sun to shine in for light & warmth and are also equipped with heavy rolladins to keep the sun out if need be.

It's a beautiful home that we enjoy very much and really look forward to meeting some great new friends from around the world!

What To Do In Our Beautiful Town?

Parks, shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance from our home so you can get tipsy and still stumble home without worries.

St. Leon Rot is World Famous for it's beautiful & prestigious golf club. Play on Tiger Wood's favorite German course! Enjoy the golfer's paradise at St. Leon-Rot, twice voted Germany's best golf club. As well as two 18-hole championship courses and a 9-hole course, attractive practice facilities are avail! And... It's just a 5 minute ride down my steet! Just about a mile in the opposite direction from my house is the St. Leon Lake. It's filled with fun things to do & is very inexpensive! Great for everyone from small children to adults with a myriad of activities!

Swimming, sun bathing, water skiing, fishing, snorkeling, camping, volleyball, basketball, wind surfing, sail boating and much more!
The Bellamar is just one of the many awesome swimming pools here in Germany. This one is one of my favorites. It?s super close, right over in a small town called Schwetzingen and has lots to offer! Both indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, tanning beds, Jacuzzi?s, slides of all kinds, lap pools, eating facilities, shower facilities, even salt water pools! My kids just love it! It's very inexpensive too!

Heidelberg Sights Guide:

* A dramatic 13thC red stone castle, which was destroyed three times over 146 years and contains the world's biggest wine vat and a bizarre apothecary museum.
* The quirky Old Bridge that was the original town gate.
Germany's oldest university: the Karl Ruprecht University is the country's answer to Cambridge.
* Walking up the winding Philosopher's Path provides views of the Old Town and Castle, and on to Saints Mountain for an amphitheatre - allegedly used by Hitler - and the ruins of St. Michael's Basilica.
* The Student Prison. From 1778 until 1914, students were imprisoned in the Students' Prison for minor transgressions. Biding their time, many of the young prisoners "decorated" the walls with graffiti and paintings that can still be seen today.
* The Famous Hauptstrasse (Main Street), A full mile of beautiful cobble stoned steet with tons of activity going on. Shops, pubs, restaraunts, night clubs, cafe's etc. No traffic is allowed through so you can rome the streets free of worry! It's a beautiful, laid back, cultural experience that one shouldn't miss out on!

Boat Trips on the Neckar River

Boat rides on the Neckar River in the tradition of Mark Twain offer charming views of Old Town Heidelberg and the Neckar Valley. Also offered are special trips during castle illuminations and river boat shuffles with live music. All trips include explanations in German, English and French!

The Heidelberg Zoo

Spacious, beautiful zoo focusing on various themes/landscapes. It's small enough that you can see it all in one afternoon and large enough that you don't feel like it was a waste of time. I'm originally from the Bronx, so in comparison, this zoo is tiny. I like it much better because at the Bronx Zoo, you never get to see everything anyway! This zoo has gorgeous gardens of flowers and several parks for the kids to play in while they are taking breaks from the animals. It's in the center of Heidelberg and about an 8-10 minute train ride from our house. Very inexpensive too.

Nearby cities include Heidelberg, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Speyer, Hockenheim etc.

You'll absolutely love it here!
