Our holiday apartment is in a private houses .Is situated on the edge of the village La Ciaccia, which has several shops, bars and simple to very good restaurants. Besides, I llive there and I am at your disposal any time.
Only two kilometers away is Valledoria, a small town with all kinds of shops: A multitude of restaurants serves to your tastes. The several boutiques, jewellers and souvenir shops could be tempting. Three banks are there to help you out. If medical assistance is required, we have two resident "guardia medica" (emergency doctors) in La Ciaccia and Valledoria, a number of specialist doctors and a pharmacy.
A well-tended beach is 200 to 400 meters walking distance . To the west you can also find rocky beaches, in easterly direction the sand extends for 15 kilometres. Particularly along the northern coast one finds dreamlike beaches and inlets. Possibilities exist for diving, snorkelling kite and surfing. Valledoria has also a surf and kite school.
Whilst the apartment is peaceful and pleasant, it is only a short distance from some of the most delightful and interesting places Sardinia has to offer, i.e. Sassari, Tempio Pausania, Costa Smeralda, Castelsardo, Costa Paradiso, Isola Rossa - also cultural memorials, such as the Nuraghe di Santu Antine, the Nekropole di Anghelu Ruiu, the Basilica di Saccargia, Monte d'Accodi ( Babylonian temple), the Pozzo S acro - or natural monuments like the petrified trees in Perfugas and Martis, Neptune's grotto in Alghero, the thermal springs of Casteldoria, the elephant of Castelsardo,....
Small mountain ranges with a wonderful panoramic view, charming hills and green woods - the Valledoria region is richly endowed with hillocks, lakes, rivers, forests and plains. An excursion from the seaside inland to the rolling or mountainous country, by foot or with a mountain bike, is a nice little adventure, an uninterrupted voyage of discovery. Since the mountains are not very high many small villages are within easy reach that still reflect and bear witness of Sardinian tradition and culture.

The reasons to come to sardinia |
| |
Above all in Sardinia you will find tranquillity, with its miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside,it remains one of the few"undiscovered"holiday island left in Europe. Also Sardinia is an very old region with a lot of heritage cultural and all year around you can find some actrations like: Spring:Sardinia welcomes is guests with an unrivaled bouquet of flowers during blossoming time. Carnival will see parties and traditional processions in almost every village. Eastern processions in Valledoria and neighboring villages are also worth attending. And important festivity is held in Castelsardo on the Monday prior to Eastern: the "Lunissanti", with sacred songs from the Gregorian era. Alghero fascinates visitors with its Sardinian-Catalan Holy Week. On the second last Sunday in May the town of Sassari (the capital of the North) celebrates the "Cavalcata". In the past, in order to give a solemn welcome to illustrious guests, processions of men and women on horseback, wearing their most beautiful and most colorful clothes, were organized.. In memory of this tradition, the "Cavalcata" gathers every year more than three thousand men and women, young and old, from every part of Sardinia: a living museum of the island's folklore, but also a festival which is constantly enliven by mirth, songs and dances. The festival is divided into three main events: the procession of costumes in the morning, the impetuous "Palio (horserace) in the afternoon and the traditional song s and dance show at nightfall. End of May/early June many villages organize open-air public banquets with Sardinian specialties for everyone (locals and visitors) to honor their patron saints. Summer: The town of Tempio welcomes its visitors with an international folklore week in July, whilst Pozzomaggiore entices guests with a daring horse race in the honor of San Costantino. August features the fossil and mineral exchange market in Valledoria. On the eve of 15th August one can attends the "Candelieri", a processing in honor of the Blessed Virgin.
Autumn and winter: Many village festivals will be celebrated this time of the year. In Valledoria the beginning of autumn spells pleasant peacefulness. No summer traces remain on the large golden sand dunes, no foot-prints, excepting ours and those of some gulls and turtles, show on the vast beaches. Nature with fruit and produce of the season becomes the center-point: mushrooms grapes, honey melons, cactus figs, tomatoes and aubergines,... from now on influence the menu of traditional restaurants. It is on autumn when Sardinia is so very inviting and persuasive to discover the unique natural charm on extended walking tours. Of course, if one so wishes, a swim in the sea is possible still towards the end of October. The water and the sun, whilst shining lesser hours, are still warm enough.
