The house is 100 years old and has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard. It has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and is ideally suited for a big family or a group of friends to share.
We bought the house for its stunning views, its closeness to both beaches and ski slopes, its organic food and wine and friendly environment . The village has a bank, a baker, a petrol station, a bar, two restaurants, a church, and the local supermarket is within easy walking distance or even easier drive. The village restaurant that we recommend is just two minutes walk from the house and is called Erasmi, the food is extremely good and unless you are very hungry, it is hard to get past the Anti Pasta, it also offers great value for money. Other great restaurants can be found in some of the surrounding villages, a list of which are identified in a book we keep in the house.
We have found a vineyard nearby, which will fill a demijohn with red/white or Rossi for about 6 euros, all organic, smooth and very drinkable.
A car is essential on this holiday, as there are a multitude of interesting places to visit e.g. Atri, Loretto, Penne,Silvi, Gran Sasso national park and Rome is just under two hours away by road.
Other more strenuous activities nearby:- Horse riding, climbing, skiing, walking, golfing, sailing etc
Our website has a lot of ideas on areas to visit and we will be adding more ideas as soon as we develop them e.g. hunting white truffles with dogs followed by a gastronomic meal{seasonal, normally October}, we are also looking at wine tours followed by a great lunch.
Every year the village has a festival over a long weekend in the second week of August, needless to say this revolves around food and wine and is certainly worth a visit. If you can't make this week, it is likely that one of the other surrounding villages will have one, sometime during the Summer months.
Whether you stay at the house in Winter or Summer, you will certainly have a very enjoyable stay in this relatively unexplored and unknown part of Italy.
