Villa Farilya |
| |
This spacious bright and modern villa offers looks out over the lush green garden to the royal blue sea towards Rabbit Island in the bay of Gundogan. By night the distant lights of Altinkum twinkle in the distance while the sky comes alive with many bright stars since the air is so clear.
The villa offers quality accomodation at economical rates while time has been spent attending to the touchtful touches that make a difference.
The kitchen is fully equipped for 6 with halogen hob, oven, large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle etc and cutlery and crockery for 8. Outside sit on the handmade furniture under the shady pergola and enjoy some local wine while preparing the bbq, or maybe relax on the roof-top terrace watching the sun go down?
The 3 bedrooms have air con, and the lounge also has air con and ceiling fans. There is a large cool seating area here if you can drag yourself away from the stunning view and pretty garden. Tv , dvd and satelite channels are available for those who wish to keep in touch with the outside world.
There are 2 fully tiled shower-rooms, with wc, while the upstairs bathroom houses the washing machine - there is plenty of drying area available.
We provide all bedding and towels - these will be changed once a week. |
Facilities |

We probably have the very best facilities on offer in the area, and once you have seen the endless, near Olympic sized pool in bright turquoise you will realise that you do not need to take the family anywhere else (at least during the day)!
There is a small splash pool for toddlers with a cafe serving drinks, snacks and ice creams. In the evening there is occasional Turkish entertainment in the restaurant - this is very low key and is certainly not on a "Butlins" type format.
Underneath the pool, there is a market selling bread, water, milk, English speaking newspaper and everyday food items.
Visit the beach bar on the other side of the hill, for snorkelling and swimming in the waves as they beat against the jetties and rocks. This is for experienced swimmers and we recommend the pool for children.
For your convenience there is complimentary transport down to the beach bar and also into the village on market day. A dolmus runs from the complex down to the village every 2 hours and is reliable and cheap. |
Gundogan |
| |
Gundogan ? or Farilya and meaning ?sunrise? is a charming Turkish village that has changed little over the years. Life continues at its own pace and cows meander through the streets at milking time. Bougainvillea spills over houses and walls, the orchards are full of fruit which can be found on sale at the side of the road. This is the real Turkey, English is spoken but tourism only plays a small part in village life. The village is self sufficient and has a community in winter and has not turned into a ?Burger King and Beer? location.
In summer the visitors return and are welcomed with great hospitality and friendliness by the local people. You will not feel a stranger here, but more a friend to be welcomed.
Gundogan is a centre for watersports and boasts a wide selection of activities for all ages and abilities. Do let us know since we work with the guys in the sail school and we can tailor a whole package to suit your needs. From beginners to the most experienced wake-boarder you will be welcomed here and we feel that we can offer a unique experience, a watersports holiday while staying in a villa, not a hotel designed and staffed by Brits for Brits. All instructors are qualifed beyond UK regulations and are British born and speak English and Turkish. Do email for more details.
Perhaps something a little less energetic? A lazy day boat trip skippered by a qualified captain taking you to 5 beaches and coves leaving from Gundogan harbour. Or horse-trekking through the mountains on the outskirts of the village.
Enjoy the long sandy beach in Gundogan, where you can take two steps from your sunbed into the warm waters of the Aegean. Spend the day down here, having hot corn for lunch and an evening meal of locally caught fish in one of the speciality restaurants built on jetties at the water?s edge.
Wander into the village and you will find traditional restaurants where you can enjoy favourites such as lentil soup, lamacun, pide , durum and of course kebap. There is a post office with ATM machine, a reasonable selection of shops, some excellent doctors, a dentist and several internet cafes if you really need to keep in touch with the outside world.
**** A new addition, discovered in July 2006 is a ?mini? Migros supermarket right in the village. So now you can get all your food and beverages in the village without travelling further afield. You can come down to the village by dolmus, stock up and return to the villa by taxi.****
20 minutes by car, or a dolmus ride will take you into Bodrum. One of the most cosmopolitan resorts you will experience a real international flavour as you stroll along the harbour and marina, visit the castle or ?shop ?til you drop? in the designer clothes shops or bazaars of the back streets. For clubbers this is the place to be with international artistes headlining all summer.
Wherever you want to be on the Peninsula, nowhere is more than 20 minutes away.
Come and experience the famous hospitality in the perfect location for a peaceful, yet fun, family holiday.
