Ideally located to exploit Bulgaria's top ski resort, the apartment is within walking distance to the ski gondola, although there is also a free shuttle bus service every 15 minutes for those who wish to conserve their energy for the slopes ! Although most famous for its skiing, Bansko is the gateway to the Pirin National Park and offers an irrestistable combination of spectacular scenic mountains and lakes, ancient history and a modern infrastructure to make it an increasingly popular year round destination.

Bansko is located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and is an irresistable combination of glorious mountain ranges, stunning scenery, old world charm and modern infrastructure and is on UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites for its natural beauty. Great for families, Bansko has something to offer people of all ages and interests - from museums and monuments to tavernas, casinos and nightclubs. Surrounded by the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope mountains and 95 miles from the capital of Sofia, the ancient town of Bansko is a thriving mountain resort with a population of around 10,000. The skiing season starts in mid December and lasts through until mid April when the town changes over to a summer resort offering superb opportunities for hunting, walking, fishing, golf and sightseeing. There are over 120 cultural and historic monuments in and around Bansko which also provides an ideal base for a visit to the world famous Rila monastery. Extending over an area of 27,400ha and lying at an altitude of 1,008 - 2,914m in the Pirin mountains, the Pirin National Park has a limestone Balkan landscape, with glacial lakes, waterfalls, caves and pine forests.
Skiing in Bansko
 
Bansko has the finest skiing in Eastern Europe and the some of the best value skiing and snowboarding in the world - it offers Alpine quality skiing at Bulgarian prices with diverse, newly renovated, wide tree-lined pistes that give you a variety of skiing for any level. Suitable for beginners with plenty of good blue runs to practice on, the superb English speaking ski school at Bansko will help you quickly get to grips with the basics. The ski area is a paradise for intermediate skiers with a total ski run length of 65 km and a lift network of 26km covering 14 picturesque, well maintained pistes. The resort's ski facilities have been subject to multi-million Euro investment that has rapidly turned Bansko into a candidate to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (mid-December to May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts, coupled with the best Apres-ski in Bulgaria. The old town offers a unique and vibrant experience with over 100 traditional 'mehanas', many of which have live music.
