The Mobile Home/Chalet is tastefully decorated with light oak furniture, bright fabrics and contemporary pictures, the Cottage 3 bed feels more like a French chalet than a mobile home. The U-shaped kitchen has a full-sized cooker (hob, grill and oven), large fridge-freezer (FF) and a microwave (M). (see floorplan above.)The bright and airy lounge has a broad expanse of comfy seating, which converts into a double bed. All the bedrooms have wardrobe-hanging space with hangers. The bathroom is a fully equipped house-style bathroom with a large sit down shower space. The master bedroom has a corner dressing table area with built in hairdryer and an en-suite door to the bathroom. All bedrooms have built in mosquito net blinds and black out blinds, enabling opens windows at night and/or darkened rooms to get the little ones to bed in the light summer evenings. Gas fire and TV area with satellite (English) TV, DVD player and CD player. The large extended french-windows open fully, allowing an airy open feel in summer. One of the spot light takes a provided built in fan attachment providing cover for the lounge area. All the bedrooms have light switch controls above the beds and all have dimmer switches. All doors have hooks for hanging, on the interior. There is an outside light to provide light on the terrace. The ample decked terrace, with a locking gate provides great outside entertaining space and a safe enclosed area for toddlers and young children.

Set in the heart of the Mervent Forest, camping at Chene Tord is a nature lovers paradise. A family run, informal site, different from the regimented sites on the coast, Le Chene Tord offers a relaxing environement, for all the family to enjoy the outstanding countrysideand local activities. The river Vendee, which gives the coutny its name, was damed here in the 1960's to provide a lake area for fishing, bathing and water activities including pedalos. Outside the gates of the campsite you are right in the heart of the forest and it is possible to spend your holiday on foot or cylce without using the car. 10 minutes walk brings you to a bar overlooking the river valley with breathtaking views. A further 5 minutes walk brings you into the village of Mervent with its bakers, grocers and specialty butchers. Infact the bread and specialty meats are delivered to the campsite on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The village also har a bar, however a short stroll down the hill to the riverside, boasts another 2 restaurants both on the banks of the river. We have whiled away many hours sipping a glass of wine whilst wathcing the swimmers, divers and canooists. Or walk to the Auberge of the forest and sample their set menu of French cusine. Adjacent to the campsite is Mevent Adventures. A sports activity centre hosting bungee and various high wire adventure climbs. Also in the middle of the Forest is a theme park "Parc de Pierre Brune", ideal for younger children. There are miles of walks and nature trails in the Forest and plenty of stops for picnics, with picnic tables and sheltered areas. Around every corner is another stunning view or somehting to delight in. Horseriding through the forest is available locally.

VOUVANT
The nearest village, a drive of 5 minutes, is a beautiful ?Cité Romane? and is awarded the accolade of ?one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is steeped in history with its Roman church and bridge, its keep and of course the fairy tale of Mélusine. It has 3 cafes, 2 restaurants, bank, post office, shops, patisserie, chemist and services. Vouvant is not to be missed!

FONTENAY-LE-COMTE
? a drive of 15 minutes - this ?town of Art and History? boasts the only conservation zone in the Vendée, covering 87 hectares and has 1700 buildings in its care. This charming renaissance town holds a Saturday market selling local produce together with plenty of good restaurants and cafes to watch the world go by.

MARAIS POITEVIN
a 25 minute drive ? also called the ?Venise Vert?, within this beautiful water sanctuary there is a dense labyrinth of canals and waterways hidden beneath a canopy of ash and poplar. Many circular walks, walking trails and delightful paths along the canals and dykes for walkers and cyclists. Boat hire is also available. Reserves in the area make it a fascinating place for bird watchers.

LE PUY DU FOU - Le Grand Parc
- 40 minutes away, this medieval theme park is a fantastic day out, starting from 23 April and running through to September. And, in addition on Friday and Saturday evenings from June to September it offers a spectacular live show, the biggest stage in the world, extravagant stage effects and with a cast of a thousand ? not to be missed! You will need to book ahead for this show.

45 mins drive - lovely old fishing port with a great selection of bars and restaurants, museums and a wonderful waterfront. Described as "the most attractive and unspoilt seaside town in France" has the largest marina on the Atlantic coast, and an extremely impressive aquarium. ILE DE RE
an hours drive ? This charming small island just off the La Rochelle peninsula is reached by toll bridge and has calm seas ideal for bathing on the eastern side with surfing beaches to the west. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants and boutiques to enjoy in the sun. If you like oysters this is the area to see them harvested in addition to enjoying the local produce.

LA TRANCHE SUR MER
? an hours drive -on the Atlantic coast, this lively resort with its traditional white-walled houses, narrow lanes and 13kms of fine sandy beaches is popular with visitors and locals alike looking for sun, sea and lots to do.
