The Forge is truly an upside down cottage ! The house is situated just below the Granary and was bought in 1995.
Because the lower part of the house was hewn out of the rock and faces due west, it was decided to build the lounge upstairs. The lounge is accessed in two ways from the walled garden. You can climb the stairs to the wooden balcony, faced with carved timbers in the local style. From the balcony you enter the lounge through French doors. The kitchen and bathroom lead off the lounge.
The other way up to the lounge is through the ground floor, double bedroom. As with the balcony, you enter the bedroom from the garden through French doors at ground level. You then climb the traditional stone staircase up into the lounge.
The garden is, like the other cottages, surrounded by a high wall to be totally secluded. Next to the pergola, built into one corner of the garden wall, is a traditional Turkish fireplace, with bench seats attached. As with the Granary garden, a barbeque unit is built into the fireplace.
The balcony faces west and is perfect for sitting and chatting, watching the wonderful sunsets over the hills looking towards the sea at Gemiler Bay three kilometres away. The Forge has become a favourite holiday cottage for honeymooners over the years.
The communal pool and kosk at the Byre are a one minute walk along a path above the cottage.
