During daytime, one can take a ferry to the nearby Ilhéu (a volcanic outsprung) and swim in the natural lagoons. In Vila Franca one finds a water park, as well as shopping facilities, restaurants and coffee shops. The two island's golf clubs are 20 and 30 minutes drive from property. The island capital Ponta Delgada is 22 Km distant.

The highest point, called Pico da Vara, with an altitude of 1,080 metres, is situated in the eastern massif. The large craters of Sete Cidades, Fogo and Furnas contain wonderful lakes of crystal-clear water. The island is situated at 250º 30' West longitude and 370º 50' North latitude.
