Gardenhouse part of a historic residential farmhou |
| |
The lovely garden (guest)house is ideally located in a 650 years old city, called Weesp. The guesthouse belongs to the residential historic farmhouse, the eldest farmhouse in the city itself, which has been constructed during three centuries and recently (1993) fully restored under the supervision of State Monument Care. However the guesthouse has its own entrance, can be accessed easily separetely from the road and contains a fully self supporting living unit. Weesp itself is located along the river "De Vecht", drifting away from Utrecht to the bastion city Muiden to find its way to a huge lake called IJsselmeer. |
Weesp and its direct surroundings |
| |
In Weesp some historic attractions can be visited at walking distance, such as the original synagoge, the Old Church of Weesp, the fortifications, created in the 18th century. You can also visit the weekly market at Tuesday or take a stroll along the shores of the beautiful river "De Vecht". Experience a boat trip or a bike tour to admire the mansion estates, located along "De Vecht" in picturesque villages, such as Nigtevecht, Vreeland and Loenen, splendid monumental architectonic remains from the Golden Dutch Era. It is also worthwile to visit Muiden with its castle "Muiderslot" and the seventeenth replica trading vessel "Utrecht" and to watch at the stressfull manoevres of the captains with their boats in the narrow locks of Muiden, the gateway to IJsselmeer. |
Enjoy Amsterdam |
| |
Amsterdam is very nearby; every quarter of an hour a train will bring you via the Central Station straight to the city center of Amsterdam. No hazzle with cars and plenty of time to visit one of the musea Van Gogh, Rijks- or Stedelijk Museum, the Royal Palace or Ann Frankhouse. Or enjoy Amsterdam by rental bike, by foot or by boat during a candle light tour through the canals. Take a break for a lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants or bistros and finish your day in one of the entertainment centres such as Leidseplein or Rembrandtsplein. Don't forget to take the last train (a taxi is also possible approx. ? 50,-) to Weesp and remember it is only a five minutes walk to your gardenhouse. The next day, relax again in the quiet residential garden or in the countryside of Weesp. |
