The local area around Aracena is special. The mountains of the Sierra are all around and the pantana or lake adds to the vista. The countryside is exquisite and for those who love Spain, the special qualities of the area wll not be missed. There are short, medium and long walks, easy, hard and testing walks, but all take you into the Sierras and end with a local tapas! We have walked many Senderos (mostly old mule trails) across the hills, and we are writing a book describing the walks and how to arrive at the starting point and what tapas await you at the end.Or if you prefer, take a half or full day horse ride through the mountains, it's great fun. So take a flight to Seville from Liverpool, London Gatwick or Stanstead (and Dublin from Febryary 2007), to Faro from London, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, East Midands or Liverpool or Jerez with Ryanair, and you can enjoy the best of rural Spain in just a few hours. We love Spain and want to ensure you cannot wait to return.
In july and August we offer the opportunity of having breakfast and dinner in your cottage - traditional fresh Spanish food, with a small choice of dinner 5 days a week. You can even learn how to cook typical Spanish food. Please see further details below |
Aracena is a small provincial town with the obligatory town square where you can sip coffee or something stronger and watch the world slip by timelessly. There is a superb castle on the top of the hill and the grutas or caves underground. Or take a trip to Seville and you will find you will not have enough time to see the city. The cathedral, the third largest in the world is breathtaking and a ride around the city in a horse drawn cart will take you to the Plaza de Espana and through beautiful gardens in the city centre. Isla Magica is a fun trip for adults and children alike. AND you can shop till you drop......! Or with your car, take the time to travel the Sierras and find small unspoilt villages where the locals are friendly and the tapas so fresh and tasty.

July and August ? real opportunity to enjoy real Spanish cooking
If you want to relax and forget about cooking and washing up during your stay here in rural Spain, why not take advantage of eating quality Spanish food in your own cottage. In July and August we are offering you the opportunity of inclusive daily Spanish breakfast and evening meals for five nights of a week. Freshly cooked from all fresh ingredients prepared in traditional the Spanish style. The local pork here is amazing and tastes and looks more like good quality beef than the pork you are able to buy in the rest of Europe. Each pig in our region lives wild among the tall cork acorn trees and roots around for the abundant acorns that give them their unique flavour. Or try the famous tortilla made with fresh vegetables and truly free range eggs. Each night you will be offered a small choice of alternative Spanish dishes, served with local bread, free from additives and freshly grown salad.
Sample Menu
Solomio in whiskey ? a juicy pork fillet marinated in whiskey, garlic and thyme and served on a bed of caramelised apple, accompanied by tomato, onion and oregano salad and Spanish potatoes
Or perhaps
Gambas en ajo ? fresh large prawns seasoned and cooked in garlic butter, served with fresh green salad and Spanish omelette
Or even
Berejenas San Jacobo ? A speciality aubergine or eggplant dish cooked with goats cheese and local jamon. (Jamon can be omitted for vegetarians). This dish is particularly tasty with home made tomato salsa and roasted potatoes Spanish style.
All topped off with custard fruit or perhaps Spanish rice pudding
You choose which menu and which days you would like to sit back and have dinner prepared just for you. We can handle most dietary needs, so just let us know in advance what you prefer or perhaps would like to try.
The cost of renting the house and enjoying the catering for any week in July and August is £400 for two people and £470 for three people. Eating Out Corteconcepcion has 7 bars and three restaurants as well as two small supermarkets. The food in one of the restaurants is to die for and there is another restaurant on the road to Corteconcepcion that is only open at weekends and is always packed to the gunnells. The region around Aracena is famous for the black jamon which is exported worldwide. Cured and sold in the village you really must try some and you'll never be satisfied with ham slices again. Aracena has many varied and reasonably priced tapas bars as well as some sensational restaurants for secial occasions. The choice in Seville is outstanding but we can give you good recommendations. |
